Eco Council

Our Eco Council is a team of enthusiastic, responsible and environmentally conscious pupils who are passionate about protecting and improving our school environment. They work together with staff to promote sustainability, encourage positive environmental choices and inspire others to take pride in caring for the world around them.

Each year, children are given the opportunity to put themselves forward for the role, with class representatives being chosen through a democratic vote by their classmates. This allows pupils to represent the views of their class while playing an active role in shaping environmental initiatives across the school.

The Eco Council is committed to making our school a greener, cleaner and more sustainable place to learn. Members meet regularly to discuss ideas, identify areas for improvement and plan projects that help reduce waste, save energy and encourage recycling. They also help to care for our outdoor spaces and promote respect for the natural environment.

Throughout the year, our Eco Councillors lead and support a variety of environmental projects and awareness campaigns. They may organise litter picks, encourage recycling and energy-saving initiatives, take part in national environmental events and help to improve biodiversity within the school grounds. Where possible, they also work with the wider community, supporting local environmental projects and encouraging everyone to play their part in caring for the environment.

Our Eco Councillors are excellent role models who encourage others to make responsible choices and understand that even small actions can have a positive impact. Through their enthusiasm and commitment, they help develop a culture where caring for the environment is everyone’s responsibility.

Being a member of the Eco Council helps pupils develop valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and responsibility, while making a meaningful contribution to both school life and the wider community.
