Residential Visits 

At our school, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our residential visits provide pupils with exciting opportunities to develop independence, resilience and confidence while creating lasting memories with their friends. As children progress through the school, they take part in a carefully planned programme of residential experiences, each designed to build on the skills and experiences gained in previous years.

Our youngest pupils begin their residential journey with an overnight stay at Petty Pool, where they experience spending time away from home in a safe and supportive environment. This helps children develop confidence, independence and teamwork while enjoying a range of fun outdoor activities.

As pupils move through Key Stage 2, they take part in increasingly challenging and rewarding residential experiences. Visits to PGL and the Conway Centre, Menai provide opportunities to develop resilience, communication and problem-solving through adventurous outdoor activities, team challenges and water-based experiences. These visits encourage children to step outside their comfort zones, support one another and discover strengths they may not have realised they had.

Our residential programme also includes a visit to London, where pupils have the opportunity to explore the capital city and bring their classroom learning to life. Visiting famous landmarks, museums and places of historical significance helps deepen their understanding of British history, geography and culture, while broadening their horizons and inspiring future aspirations.

In 2025, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable residential visit to Paris. As well as experiencing another country’s culture, language and traditions, pupils visited world-famous landmarks and developed a greater appreciation of life beyond the UK. The trip encouraged independence, curiosity and confidence, while creating memories that will stay with them for years to come.

Residential visits offer far more than exciting adventures. They help children develop essential life skills such as resilience, responsibility, cooperation, communication and leadership. Pupils learn to work together, overcome challenges, support one another and grow in confidence, all while having fun in new and inspiring environments.

These experiences also strengthen friendships and foster a strong sense of belonging within our school community. Many children return from their residential visits with increased self-belief, greater independence and a willingness to embrace new challenges in both school and everyday life.

We are incredibly proud of the opportunities our residential programme provides. From a first overnight stay in Year 1 to memorable adventures in London, North Wales and even Paris, these experiences enrich our curriculum, broaden children’s horizons and help prepare them for the next stage of their education and beyond.
