At Grange Community Nursery and Primary School we value the arts as a way for our children to express their own creativity. The Arts include: Art and Design, Dance, Music, Creative Writing, Drama, Poetry. Creative writing, drama and poetry are taught through English and topics. Art and Design, Dance, and Music are taught within topics.Music is very important at Grange Community Primary School. We have recently performed in Manchester with the Young Voices’ Choir.
During Year 5 all our children join our school orchestra and learn to play an instrument – they then have the amazing opportunity to perform alongside the Halle Orchestra. Year 4 learn how to play the violin and perform at a number of concerts throughout the year. Alongside this guitar lessons are offered to children from Year 2 upwards by an external music teacher.
Extra-curricular activities also give our children the opportunity to develop the Arts outside of the curriculum. Drama, music, creative writing are all included.
For every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. Pablo Picasso
