PE

Here at Grange Community Nursery and Primary School, we offer a fantastic range of sporting opportunities and pride ourselves in promoting a healthy, active lifestyle to all of our children through these opportunities. Our curriculum is progressive and is based on developing fundamental movement skills, as well as aiming to help our children to gain confidence and build character.

Children have two hours of curriculum PE per week. Many of our staff have an interest in sport and PE and are trained in a variety of areas. As well as our confident staff, we have experienced, specialist coaches who work alongside teachers to deliver high-quality coaching, which aims to not only provide excellent PE provision but to also develop staff confidence and professional development.

In EYFS and KS1, PE lessons are centred on the development of fundamental movement skills of agility, balance and coordination. In KS2, these skills continue to be applied, but in a sport-specific, more competitive environment. Underpinning all of this is the progressive development of understanding of how to make healthy lifestyle choices.
As well as this, we have an extensive range of extra-curricular opportunities to complement our curriculum. These include netball, dance, cross-country, cricket, multi-sports, and boxing. We also have excellent links to local sports clubs. We are a member of the Vale Royal School Sport Partnership, which helps to support our staff in their professional development, the delivery of our diverse curriculum and to help to engage our children in competitive sports across Cheshire.

We have been awarded the School Mark Gold Award in recent years, as well as the School Games Virtual Award, in recognition of our support, commitment and engagement in virtual programmes during Covid-19 remote learning.
