Forest School
At Grange Community Nursery and Primary School, we want our children to foster a sense of excitement, discovery and curiosity for the world around them.
We are extremely fortunate to have an extensive forest area within our grounds, which is led by our qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader – Mrs Johnston.
Forest Schools is a child-centred approach that offers opportunities for children’s holistic growth through regular weekly sessions.
Forest School sessions are most effective over an extended amount of time that enables children to play and explore whilst taking manageable risks to develop their awe of wonder and love for learning.
During Forest School sessions, children’s confidence and self-esteem are actively encouraged through hands-on experiences in the natural world. Forest School sessions are inclusive of all children’s needs.
We are currently working with our children in Nursery and Reception classes on a Friday afternoon to develop their learning whilst supporting awareness of how we can have an impact on the environment by looking after the world in which we live in.
