Residential Visits 2023-2024
Year 6
London Residential-1 night
Our adventure begins with an early morning train journey to Euston Station. Our London experience starts off with a trip to the Tower of London where we get up close to the Royal Collection- Crown jewels. We will also learn all about the historic events that took place there from the castle guards themselves, the Yeoman Warders – Beefeaters, who have guarded the castle and the precious jewels since Tudor Times. Our journey will then take us through the streets of London soaking up all of the cities culture and viewing the mesmerising landscapes as we make our way to the world famous River Thames. We will then enjoy an educational river boat cruise before heading on board the London Eye where we will have a birds eye view of everything the city has to offer. This year our Year 6 pupils have chosen Madame Tussaud’s as their 3rd attraction and they are all very excited that they will be able to get up close to some of their idols. From here, we will head off to Gourmet Burger Kitchen for a meal together before heading to London’s Victoria Apollo Theartre to watch the West End performance of Wicked.
Day 2 begins with breakfast before we take a stroll through St James’ Park to Buckingham Palace where will watch the changing of the guard before walking down the famous Mall to Trafalgar Square. We will be visiting Downing Street before taking a tour of the Houses of Parliament. As well as viewing even more of the cities famous landmarks, along the way we will then have a spot of lunch and some souvenir shopping before heading back to Euston to make our journey home.
Our trip to London is a fabulous opportunity for the children to enjoy and embrace our wonderful capital city. During our stay we are in the heart of the city enjoying and experiencing the varied cultures and diversity that London has in abundance. It enhances our knowledge of the Capital City to assist us with our learning for our Summer 2 quality text – The London Eye Mystery. We will also take experience from West End professionals to produce our own show in our end of year leavers performance.
